CITY OF VALLEJO, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, GARBAGE RATE APPLICATION REVIEW

We completed a review of Vallejo Garbage Services' 2006/07 and 2007/08 rate applications. Projected revenues and disposal, labor, equipment, and administrative costs were assessed. Significant reductions to the VGS' proposed costs, and rates, were made in both years.

COUNTY OF ALAMEDA TRIAL COURTS, REENGINEERING ASSESSMENT

We completed an assessment of fiscal services of the Alameda County Superior Court and several consolidated municipal courts. The scope of the project encompassed organizational, staffing, and workload and workflow issues. Based on results of the assessment, a decision was made to recruit a Chief Financial Officer to oversee all of the trial court's financial processes. Subsequently, the court recruited several senior level fiscal support staff.

COUNTY OF GLENN, GLENN COUNTY TRIAL COURTS, GENERAL LEDGER EXPENDITURE AUDIT

We completed a detailed review of expenditures that were potentially reimbursed to a judicial officer by both the County and the State. Results of the review were used to negotiate the amount of reimbursements to be repaid.

COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, GENERAL COUNSEL'S OFFICE, LITIGATION SUPPORT SERVICES

We evaluated the plaintiff's claim of $1 million in lost profits due to delay and disruption in the construction of a multi-million dollar health care center.

COUNTY OF NAPA, OFFICE OF THE AUDITOR-CONTROLLER, FORENSIC ACCOUNTING AND LITIGATION SUPPORT SERVICES

We assessed costs charged to the County of Napa by Waste Management, Inc. for waste collection, recycling, and disposal services. The scope of the engagement encompassed review of all of the costs of this multi-million dollar program over a period of several years to determine the causes of a $1 million accumulated funding deficiency, and the potential liability of the County of Napa for repayment of these funds to Waste Management. Subsequently, we provided litigation support and expert witness support services to the County of Napa is connection with this dispute.
